Abstract

Caffeine and its dimethylxanthine metabolites reduced pathological IP<sub>3</sub>R-mediated pancreatic acinar Ca<sup>2+</sup> signals but only caffeine ameliorated experimental AP. Caffeine is a suitable starting point for medicinal chemistry.
