Review of the studies on aero-terrestrial cyanoprokaryotes and algae in Bulgaria with a Checklist of the recorded species. I.

Abstract

The present paper provides a review of the phycological studies on aero-terrestrial cyanoprokaryotes and algae in Bulgaria, following the different aero-terrestrial habitats, which have been examined in the country so far. In total, 81 publications with records of more than 500 taxa are analysed. The complete checklist is provided in the second part of the paper. Nonetheless, it could be said that the knowledge of aero-terrestrial phycoflora in Bulgaria is far away form being complete.
