Intermittent Drainage of Intracranial Cyst via the Subcutaneous Ommaya Reservoir

Abstract

N OW infrequently a situation arises in which drainage of a closed cyst or o ther abnormal cavi ty such as the subdural space inside the cranium is required. Recur ren t surgical drainage, needle punctures , or shunts have been used to decompress such cavities. The following is a r epo r t of a cyst of the pi tui tary fossa successfully ma in ta ined in a decompressed s ta te by the use of the O m m a y a reservoir.
