2. The sampling from the region is carried out periodically to observe the trends in pollution with time and to project predictions for the future. The soil profiles of 30 cm deep samples taken from 13 sampling stations at different coordinates that were suspected to be contaminated with heavy metals are investigated by Magnetic Susceptibility (MS) measurements both on site and in the laboratory. The value of magnetic susceptibility is observed to vary between 12.10 -5 -5
