A NEW CHEMICAL EMPIRE is being forged in the Southwest, one that promises to surpass the older chemical centers in other sections of the country and to make the South one of the major centers of chemical industry in the United States. This industrial revolution started during the depression years of the 1930's. Moving slowly at first, it gathered momentum rapidly and was proceeding with great vigor in the years just prior to World War II. Stimulated by the establishment of war industries throughout the South in the eventful days following Pearl Harbor, it rapidly attained its majority and is now challengino old'-r chemical producers in many fields for supremacy. In its growth and swift maturity, it has surpassed even the most optimistic hopes of its founders.
