By means of the traveling heater method it was possible to synthesize CdTe polycrystalline charges with an extremely low Tellurium deviation. This result is somewhat unexpected, due to the fact that at the temperature of the synthesis process the phase diagram foresees a large incorporation of Tellurium excess. In order to study in detail this phenomenon, "ad hoc" synthesis processes are carried out and the composition of the obtained CdTe charges carefully measured. Possible explanations for the observed data are discussed.
