Abstract

This review surveys recent work on the possible mode of action and on the effects of that group of drugs variously known as non-narcotic analgesics, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, aspirin-like drugs, antiphlogistic acids, and so on. These drugs show, to a greater or lesser degree, the therapeutic properties of reducing pain, inflammation. and fever and the side effects of causing gastrointestinal irritation and renal pathology. Some aspects of the pharmacology of these drugs have previously been reyiewed in this series (I. 2).
