Abstract

Agricultural production systems like agroforestry or organic farming are complex systems of intensification through higher agro-ecological and biological productivity. The aim of such low-input intensification is to achieve higher crop yields with little or no additional external inputs like mineral fertiliser and pesticides, combined with improved soil and water management. This agricultural produc tion has the potential to address in particular the needs and possibilities of small-scale farmers.
