I have outlined the historical development of scintiscanning for brain tumours and discussed the general theory. Our technique in 50 consecutive cases has been described and the results analysed and compared with other series. The radiation dosage has been discussed. Finally, an attempt has been made in general terms to link up the scan results with the pathology of the underlying space-occupying lesions. Although we understand very little concerning the bio-chemical and physical processes taking place, there is no doubt that this technique of scintiscanning is an extremely important contribution to the art of investigation of the neurological case.
