Rigid Rodlike Metal Complexes of Nanometric Dimension: Synthesis, Luminescence Properties, and Long‐Range Energy Transfer

Abstract

Two bipyridine units that are separated by a rigid rodlike spacer characterize the ligand described here, with which both mono- and Binuclear complexes were prepared. Although the metal centers are approximately 1.7 nm apart, an efficient intramolecular energy transfer from the Ru to the Os unit occurs in 1 with a rate constant of 4.1 × 107 s−1.
