Abstract

Arranged in two parts, this volume first examines the relations of the emergent Muslim polity in India with the larger Muslim world, then deals with issues of accommodation, syncretism, and opposition between `Muslim India' since the campaign of Muhammad bin Qasim in Sindh in 710 to the emergence of independent India and Pakistan in 1947. This book is intended for scholars of medieval Indian history, religious and the interested reader.
