Performance limits of PD location based on time-domain reflectometry

Abstract

Partial discharge location is a powerful and useful tool for the maintenance and operation of electrical power distribution cables and has attracted tremendous research and development effort since the 1980's. Questions regarding location estimation and selection of system parameters remain unanswered. In this paper, we give theoretical attention to these questions via the Cramer-Rao lower bound analysis.
