Soluble in dichloromethane and dimethylformamide, the perchlorate salt of the title compound contains a dicationic porphyrin (1) with promising chemistry. Electrochemical investigations on 1 add credence to the existence of the tetraoxaporphyrin redox system consisting of dication, radical cation, neutral molecule, radical anion, and dianion.
