Abstract

In double objectives control of wind power generation system, two components, a slowly varying component and a rapidly varying component are considered for wind model. This paper proposes a frequency separation guideline to get these two components for better realization of double objectives control. It makes use of the results of power spectral density analysis to determine the cutoff frequency of filter. Then a third order Butterworth is designed according to the 85% power spectrum. Simulation model of a variable-speed, fixed pitch wind turbine with permanent magnet synchronous generator is constructed. Simulation results testify the feasibility and effectivity of the proposed frequency separation guideline. It also show that maximization of wind power capture and minimization of turbine torque variations are not only related with weighting coefficient, but also depends on the filter design, especially cutoff frequency of the frequency separation filter.
