The distinct feature of the proposed method is the absence of periodic mesh on either sides of periodic boundary condition (PBC) surfaces. The present analysis utilizes a mixed and hybrid finite element formulation that allows the weak enforcement of PBCs on each side of the Floquet cell. The method is based on the "cement" finite element method originally developed for nonoverlapping domain decomposition problems. Results on doubly infinite periodic array radiation are presented.
