Group separation of C27-, C28- and C29-steroids on lipophilic Sephadex gels followed by thin-layer chromatographic and gas chromatographic separation within groups is described for 165 different dioxygenated steroids. The mass spectrometric fragmentation patterns for all C27-, C28- and C29-steroids have been summarized. The emphasis has been laid on the systematic identification of steroids from metabolic experiments.
