Abstract The “colorability” and the photodegradation by repeated flashes have been studied for 3 series of photochromic spiro[indoline‐oxazines], A comparison has been established, in the same conditions, with indoline derivatives in benzopyran and naphthopyran reference series. The oxazine compounds present generally a better behaviour to the light but the low photodegradation depends also on the UV region of irradiation, the pane glass (λ > 335 nm) being an interesting filter. The spiro [indoline‐oxazines] have a good balance between photocoloration and photodegradation.
