Porous Li-rich layered Li[Li<sub>0.2</sub>Mn<sub>0.534</sub>Ni<sub>0.133</sub>Co<sub>0.133</sub>]O<sub>2</sub> was successfully prepared by a facile polymer-thermolysis method and exhibited superior electrochemical performance as cathode materials for lithium ion batteries.
