Abstract The reactions of the electrophilic [C 6 H 7 Fe(CO) 3 ] + -and [C 6 H 7 Fe(CO) 2 CNEt] + -cations with theextremely nucleophilic [C 7 H 7 Fe(CO) 3 ] - -anion lead to the formation of the dinuclear cyclohexadienyl cycloheptatriene bridged complexes (OC)3FeC 6 H 7 -C 7 H 7 Fe(CO) 3 and EtNC(OC) 2 FeC 6 H 7 -C 7 H 7 Fe(CO) 3 . In a similar reaction the tricarbonyl cation [CeH 7 Fe(CO) 3 ] + with [Cr(CO) 5 CN] _ yields the dinuclear cyclohexadienyl isonitrile bridged compound (OC) 3 FeC 6 H 7 -NCCr(CO) 5 . The mass, IR and NMR data of the new complexes are reported.
