1. Eighteen per cent of a group of 138 children who were given one or more glucose tolerance tests were classified as chemical diabetics. 2. One of the siblings who were classified as chemical diabetics later developed overt clinical diabetes, as did another child whose identical twin was a diabetic and whose blood sugar was abnormally low at three hours. 3. Five of nine children (56 per cent) in three families in which both parents had diabetic glucose tolerance tests had glucose tolerance tests which were sufficiently abnormal to classify them as chemical diabetics.
