Channels measuring roughly 5.2 × 7.6 Å (OO distances) are found in the first microporous borophosphate (a section of the structure is shown on the right). Ethylenediamine serves as a template in the hydrothermal synthesis. The framework is constructed from BO4 and PO4 tetrahedra and CoO6 octahedra, and organic dications occupy the channels.
