Abstract

“Naked” silicon is present in the μ-Si compound 1, which was obtained from Na2Fe(CO)4 and SiCl4 in the presence of (Me2N)3PO (HMPT). The additional, loose coordination of two HMPT molecules leads to a distorted tetrahedral coordination at silicon (Fe-Si-Fe 122.6(1), OSiO 92.1(1)°). This coordination suggests that a zwitterionic resonance structure is very important.
