Total and Component Health Care Costs in a Non-Medicare HMO Population of Patients With and Without Type 2 Diabetes and With and Without Macrovascular Disease

Abstract

The results of this analysis suggest that MVD may triple the total medical care costs in patients with T2DM. These economic consequences would appear to support the importance of interventions intended to prevent macrovascular events in patients with T2DM.
