This paper presents a method for the transient and steady-state analysis of electrical motors and drives. Equations of electric circuits and equations of magnetic fields are taken into account simultaneously by coupling nodal analysis and 2D FEM. The inductances and capacitances are modeled with Dommel's approach. The global matrix is symmetrical and solved by a step-by-step technique. The formulation was validated by comparing numerical results and experimental data.
