Abstract

A highly stretchable and conductive poly(dimethylsiloxane)–galinstan composite that exhibits unique electromechanical coupling is developed. Compression irreversibly induces conductivity in the virgin material, and allows for the ability to draw circuits into the composite via selectively applying force. Tensile loading causes an apparent increase in volumetric conductivity, resulting in only modest resistance change when the material is under strains as high as 100%.
