Abstract Reduction of nitroarenes to anilines using activated iron generated by Fe/HCl or Zn/FeSO 4 is described. A variety of functional groups such as alkyne, ketone, enone, nitrile, lactone, and aromatic halide are well tolerated under these conditions.
