Abstract

Coadministration of colchicine and macrolides may impair colchicine elimination, resulting in excess drug exposure and toxicity. To this end, colchicine should be used with extreme caution in patients receiving P-glycoprotein inhibitors, particularly if they are elderly and/or renally compromised.
