Isomorphism of Tris(cyclopentadienyl)lutetium(<scp>III</scp>) and Tris(cyclopentadienyl)scandium(<scp>III</scp>): An Unexpected Consequence of the Lanthanoid Contraction

Abstract

Not the structure of a lanthanoid(III) homologue resembles that of Cp3Lu(CpC5H5), but rather that of the corresponding Sc compound. This supports the old contention that not La, but Lu should be placed in group 3A (se, Y…) of the periodic system.
