Shelling out: A core–shell nanocomposite comprising an Ag nanoparticle core and a CeO2 nanoparticle shell catalyzes the chemoselective reduction of both nitrostyrenes and epoxides while retaining the CC bonds (see picture). Reactions with the core–shell structures show greater chemoselectivity than conventional oxide-supported metal nanoparticles.
