ZnO exhibits organization qualities: Monodisperse and crystalline ZnO nanoparticles stabilized by a combination of long-chain carboxylic acid and amine ligands may be synthesized via a very simple organometallic procedure. The nanoparticles spontaneously organize into 2D or 3D superlattices (see picture).
