Abstract

Unsaturated aldehydes such as (2) are multifunctional starting materials for numerous syntheses. Flash thermolysis of the readily accessible compounds (1) containing the HO(CR2)3Me3OH⊖ structural element is of general applicability and leads to good yields of (2).
