Summary By applying chemical substances to the skin of Swiss mice inbred for 7 years and in the resting (telogen) phase of their hair cycle, fairly uniform degenerative responses of sebaceous glands were obtained which were clearly visualizable in horizontal sections and which suggest possible carcinogenicity.
