Abstract We report on the analysis of the 300 MHz 1 H‐n.m.r spectra obtained in D 2 O of SUCROSE (α‐D‐glucopyranosyl‐(1 → 2)‐β‐D‐fructofuranoside), PALATINOSE (α‐D‐glucopyranosyl‐(1 → 6)‐D‐fructose), LEUCROSE (α‐D‐glucopyranosyl‐(1 → 5)‐D‐fructose), TURANOSE (α‐D‐glucopyranosyl‐(1 → 3)‐D‐fructose) and LACTULOSE (β‐D‐galactopyranosyl‐(1 → 4)‐D‐fructose). It was possible to identify most of the resonances of the major isomers using the homo‐INDOR technique. The extracted chemical shifts are compared with those of the corresponding mono‐oses and increment rules are suggested.
