Iresult. The azimuthal resolution is improved with focusing and the design of the optimum transducer geometry is outlined. The components of the receiver are discussed and echograms illustrating the effects of attenuation and differentiation are presented. Several echograms illustrating the effects of the finite beamwidth are presented and artifacts which have been encountered are described.
