A new analytical method for solving complex crystal structures

Abstract

With the aid of an identity it is shown that relationships between signs of structure factors for centre-symmetrical crystals can be obtained even when the Haxker-Kasper inequality considerations yield no useful information.. It is shown that a structure determination can be formulated as a self-consistency problem with respect to these relationships, and it is indicated how the solution can be found.
