The Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) is an evidence-based nurse home-visiting programme designed to improve the health, well-being and self-sufficiency of young first-time parents and their children. It involves weekly or fortnightly structured home visits by a specially trained nurse from early pregnancy until children are 24 months old. \n \nThe main goals are to improve the outcomes of pregnancy by helping women improve their prenatal health; to improve the child’s health and development by helping parents to provide more sensitive and competent care of the child; to improve parental life course by helping parents plan future pregnancies, complete their education and find work.
