Elastic Constants of Fe _1‐x O Single Crystals

Abstract

Ultrasonic velocity measurements conducted on Fe 1‐x O single crystals grown along [100], [110], and [111] have led to the determination of the elastic constants C 11 C 12 , and C 44 . These constants are in good agreement with values previously calculated from neutron scattering data. There does not seem to be any influence of nonstoichiometry on these constants .
