Abstract An experimental study on chromosomal aberrations in animal and human cells induced by the microwave radiation has been conducted. Chinese hamster cells and human amnion cells were exposed to a microwave of 2.45 GHz at various intensities over various periods of time. Chromosomal aberrations induced in these two types of cells have been observed and they appeared to be non-thermal in nature.
