Abstract We have accomplished the various experiments of the test panel with hexagonal shape subpixels for optimizing the luminance and efficiency characteristics of the delta color array PDP. The optimal pixel and electrode designs are obtained for the highdefinition PDP with fine pixel pitch less than 0.7 mm in 42‐inch. The hexagonal array structure shows more improved luminous efficiency results than that of the normal delta array structure with rectangular subpixels.
