Polymorphous cadmium 2-substituent imidazolate frameworks (CdIFs) with high porosity and thermal stability have been realized (see figure). The use of cadmium results in the elongation of MN bonds and increased flexibility of the MN bond rotation resulting in polymorphism, high porosity, and thermal stability.
