We demonstrate all-optoelectronic 1.55-/spl mu/m-based approaches to radiate and receive continuous millimeter-wave signals. 60-GHz millimeter-wave signals with power of more than 10 dBm, generated with an actively mode-locked laser diode and a uni-travelling-carrier photodiode, are emitted from an antenna and are electro-optically detected with a CdTe electric-field sensor with high sensitivity.
