Abstract

Hormone replacement treatment with 17 beta-oestradiol for nine weeks significantly increased fibrinolytic potential in postmenopausal women with mild dyslipidaemia. This suggests that the cardioprotective effect of oestrogen may be mediated, in part, by an increase in fibrinolytic potential.
