Abstract

A novel optical demultiplexing method is experimentally demonstrated using the coherent linear correlation between the signal light and a modulated local oscillator. Although the bit-rate is only 2.4 Gbit/s in this preliminary experiment, the method is applicable to faster signals, and features high sensitivity similar to that of coherent detection.
