Hierarchical structure-within-structure morphologies are reported here as being directly imaged for the first time using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). These images reveal that the two structures are oriented perpendicular to the block-copolymer intermaterial dividing surface. The Figure shows a hexagonal array of polystyrene cylinders embedded in a lamellar matrix.
