Abstract

Abstract Patients with rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and gout were studied after intravenous injection of an iodinated human serum albumin I 131 (IHSA) tracer. Scintillation scanning and external scintillation counting demonstrated that most arthritic joints have greater than normal localization of IHSA. The degree of localization usually paralleled the clinical involvement, but in some cases it reflected more joint activity than was evident clinically. The scans offer a graphic method of recording and studying arthritic activity in joints.
