Abstract

Abstract 1.1. A study of the fate of intravenously administered radioactive colloidal gold (Aurcoloid) in the dog is presented with statistical evaluation of the results. 2.2. The liver is of predominant importance with respect to systemic uptake, accumulating approximately 94 per cent of the injected dose. 3.3. Only liver, spleen, and bone marrow appear to have the ability to concentrate significant amounts of the injected colloid. 4.4. The injected material disappears very rapidly from the circulating blood stream in an essentially smooth, two-phase process. 5.5. The effective particle size of the gold colloid used (Aurcoloid) appears to be about 40 mμ. 6.6. Comparisons of our results with those of other investigators are discussed.
