An evaluation of failure modes and effects analysis generation method for conceptual design

Abstract

This work takes the well-established technique of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and applies it to the early stages of design (making a contribution to life-cycle design). Building on this, current research is looking at incorporating fault diagnosis as part of the design process and the possible use of FMEA techniques in modular design.
