A transient electro-quasistatic solver based on the finite integration technique (FIT) is presented which is capable of simulating high-voltage devices where both dielectric and nonlinear conductive effects in the insulation materials are considered. Metallic conductors are modeled by floating potential constraints which require specialized numerical solution techniques. An error-controlled adaptive linear-implicit time-integration scheme avoids inner nonlinear iterations. The efficiency of the algorithms is illustrated by numerical test problems.
