Energy storage devices are very often used in the actual electrical installations. For that purpose, three laboratories have been associated in order to realise à flywheel energy storage device. The aims of this thesis was to design and to realise a very low cost integrated magnetic suspension with virtually zero electric power consumption. This magnetic bearing used to maintained the rotating flywheel should partially replace the classical ball bearings, in order to suppress the wear and the mechanical friction losses. Due to the numerous electromagnetic and mechanical destabilising effects, a study of the static and dynamic phenomenon has been done. Finally, the realisation of a magnetic suspension prototype allowed us to test and to validate our numerical models and thereafter to show the advantages and the disadvantages of the chosen geometry.
