Abstract

Photosensitive pillars: Perfectly aligned CC bonds in trans-1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethene ligand pairs undergo 100 % photochemical [2+2] cycloaddition reactions in interpenetrated 3D coordination polymers, accompanied by single-crystal to single-crystal (SCSC) transformation (see scheme).
